Winner Chay Hawes, who bears an uncanny resemblance to Xela

I decided that something I loved about the books I grew up with was - pictures.  Neil and I thought we would produce something a bit different, a beautiful illustrated book.  So we ran a competition from September 2015 to March 2016 and asked the best entries to pitch for the work.  Johanna, who came second in the competition, made the proposal that seemed to me to fit best with the spirit of the story.  It was a joy and an inspiration to see all the different views of my world that people drew - some of them are still on display here.
